As recently as last 2007, you could watch the tumbleweeds roll around on the 200 block of Halsted and the 800 block of Fulton Market, but over the past year there has been a flurry of activity on those two adjacent blocks. On Friday I wrote about five live / work homes that are being built along Fulton Market, and right around the corner, Fargo Corporation is developing 15 condos at 204 – 220 N Halsted St.
The photos at the top of this post show the before-and-after transformation. The photo at left, which accompanied a 2007 Yo post, appears to have been taken near the intersection of Fulton Market and Green Street, looking southeast. The photo at right was taken this morning from the corner of Halsted and Fulton Market, looking southwest. There’s still some vacant land on the corner, but the Fargo and Madonis developments will together bring 20 condos and 10 commercial units to the area.
According to Fargo president Jorge Sanchez, all 15 condos in 204 – 220 North Halsted will have three bedrooms, two baths, and about 1,700 square feet of floor space. Each condo will have two balconies, steam showers with body sprays, and Viking appliances, according to the Fargo Web site.
Sanchez says he’ll start marketing the condos in a couple of weeks. He isn’t sure how the pricing would be set, but the Web site says that prices will start in the $460s. All of the homes will be ready for delivery by June, according to Sanchez.
