Many Chicagoans believe the best views of the city aren’t seen from the observation deck’s and glass boxes of the Sea… ahem… Willis Tower, but rather from the top of the John Hancock Center at 875 N Michigan Ave. I’ve been back in the city for two years, but until last weekend, I had never traveled up to the Hancock’s Signature Lounge, located on the tower’s 96th floor (one floor above the Signature Room restaurant). The place was packed, so I had to wedge between guests to get my shots, but hopefully this will give you an idea of just how much you can see from such a great height.

Joe, I took my wife and her frineds up to the Signature Lounge for part of her 30th er… 29th birthday celebration. A lot of them have never been up there, including my wife. I’ve made it a habit to bring out of town guests up for a drink (or several).
I never get over the south views, especially at night.
That view has got to be breathtaking but I don’t think I ever want to find myself that high off the ground.
Eric,
I held my daughter’s 8th grade graduation party in the Signature Room, took 7 of her sorority sisters there for brunch one day, have hosted private parties there, etc. The food is surprisingly good.
The best experience is to have a long dinner that starts about an hour before sunset and watch the city go dark and light up.
Levois,
My daughter wouldn’t stand near the windows at the Signature Room – fear of heights. You’re not alone in this. But Eric can do it, so you can too.
