Is Target targeting the Lakeview Collection?

Lakeview Collection

The Roscoe View Journal reported yesterday that Target may be purchasing the site that was once targeted for the Lakeview Collection, a 6-story mixed-use development of loft condos and retail. We’ve written often about the Lakeview Collection since it was announced half a dozen years ago, but it dropped off our radar after our retrospective ...

From Yo’s archives – The Lofts at Lakeview Collection

Lofts at Lakeview Collection

When we first wrote about The Lofts at Lakeview Collection, almost five years ago to the day, groundbreaking was scheduled for the summer and deliveries for the end of 2008. Plans called for a six-story building at Lincoln, Belmont and Ashland, with 90,000 square feet of retail space on the first and second floors and ...

The curious case against Lakeview Collection

So why would Wachovia Bank file a suit against Centrum Properties partners John McLinden, Sol Barket, and Arthur Slaven, their Lakeview Collection LLC, Chicago Title Insurance, the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cook County, and the Illinois State Treasurer, in the Chancery Division of the Cook County Circuit Court? I can’t say — county offices were closed ...

Signs of the times: Lakeview Collection

The site of Centrum Properties‘ Lofts at Lakeview Collection continues to collect dust, but several signs still advertise the apartments and the David Barton Gym, Starbucks Coffee, and LaSalle Bank (yeah, they’re that out of date) that the development was going to bring to the intersection of Belmont, Lincoln, and Ashland avenues.

Dustbunny of the day: The St Clair

Crain’s confirms today what we were starting to hear ourselves: Centrum Properties has scrapped plans for The St Clair, the second tower of the proposed three-tower Cityfront Plaza development in Streeterville. Work on Cityfront Plaza’s first building, The Fairbanks, finished last fall and is about 90 percent sold, but sales at The St Clair never ...

Construction checkup: LV Lofts

There are new loft-style condominiums going up near the intersection of Belmont, Ashland and Lincoln avenues. They just aren’t as large as the project we’ve been discussing for the past couple of days. The same reader who asked for an update on the Lofts at Lakeview Collection also wanted to know about two other Ashland ...

The Apartments at Lakeview Collection

Looks like I wasn’t the only one calling around about the Lofts at Lakeview Collection. Crain’s reports this morning that Centrum Properties will turn the condos at Belmont, Ashland and Lincoln avenues into luxury apartments. “The reason for the change is obvious — the condo market is soft and the luxury rental market for an ...

Lofts at Lakeview Collection: It… lives?

Another day, another wrinkle. Things just get curiouser and curiouser, Yo reader. One day after sales manager Carrie McCormick said that Centrum Properties had canceled the Lofts at Lakeview Collection, project manager Nick Stocking insisted that Centrum is moving forward with the project, just at a date later than originally anticipated. “It hasn’t been canceled,” ...

Centrum cancels Lofts at Lakeview Collection

Not too long ago, a Yo reader used our tip line to request an update on three North Side loft projects. I’m still tracking down info on two of those developments, but I finally got someone to confirm that the Lofts at Lakeview Collection has bitten the dust. The project’s former sales manager, Carrie McCormick, ...

Lofts, condos transform busy Lake View junction

The intersection of Belmont, Lincoln and Ashland avenues, three major arteries, might not seem like an appealing spot for a new condo. Although a Whole Foods, at 3300 N. Ashland Ave., is a bona fide amenity, several big bank buildings make the corner feel solidly commercial. But head a block in any direction, and the ...
