A cold wind blows at 2930 North Sheridan

Five years ago YoChicago was writing about the recently-announced condo conversion at 2930 North Sheridan, in Lake View. We revisited the development periodically, covering the usual price reductions and flat-panel TV offers. Our most recent item noted a bank-directed bulk sale of 130 unsold units at the property and 3033 North Sheridan.

More recently, Chicago Real Estate Daily reported that a Texas investor had closed on the purchase of those 130 unsold units for $100,000 per unit.

The most recent resale we’ve discovered at 2930 is Unit 1907, a 2-bedroom, 2-bath purchased in June of 2008 for $399,450 and resold late last month for $210,000. That’s below the $229,000 and $240,000 asking prices of two one-bedrooms currently offered for sale at the building. Those units were purchased in 2008 for $302,700 and $311,600, respectively.

Our headline, as some of you may have divined, refers to 2930’s having briefly undergone a name change to Aquilo, the Roman god of the cold north wind.
