A completely rehabbed new listing at the Chatham Club

89th & Indiana streetscape, Chicago IL

Four-and-a-half years have passed since I shot the above streetscape of the Chatham Club at 89th and Indiana. The scene was quite a change from my first visit to the site, thirty years earlier, when it housed an A.J. Canfield bottling plant.

The Chatham Club isn’t in Chatham, but it was inspired in part by the broad, carefully manicured parkways that characterize much of Chatham. The Chatham Club is located at the northwest tip of the Roseland community, and it’s easy to understand why the developers didn’t opt for naming it the Roseland Club.

There hasn’t been a great deal of turnover at the Chatham Club since it was developed in the late 90s.

The 4-bedroom, 3 ½ bath home at 117 E 89th St, however, has changed owners several times – most recently in foreclosure. Built in 1995, it resold in 2003 for $$262,000 and in February of this year for $73,000. After what’s described as a complete rehab, it came on the market yesterday for $234,900.
