A new frat house high-rise for Chads and Trixies in Lincoln Park?

If SoLo didn’t take off as a nickname for the South Loop, what makes the developer of South of North, a new high-rise in Lincoln Park, think that the name “SoNo” will give the building cachet? It is so not cool. It is so ‘I’m trying to sound like a New Yorker’ that it ends up being so valley girl instead.

Which is a pity, because the building, which is south of North Avenue at Dayton and Blackhawk streets, was designed by architectural firm Booth Hansen for developer Smithfield Properties, (which, incidentally, is guilty of MoMo), both of which have impressive track records.

We get dizzy and want to fall down at the mere thought of a development called South of North. We so don’t want to see a potentially interesting building go to waste on the Chad and Trixie set.
