A price drop and a new listing in Glenview’s Solar Park

by Joe Zekas on 12/21/11

When we first looked in on 801 Glenview Rd in the Solar Park subdivision in Glenview, back in May, the 5-bedroom, 3-bath home on a half-acre lot was newly listed at $725,000. The home was also listed as a vacant land / teardown candidate, and at $1.45M as a new construction option.

After a series of price reductions, the latest less than a week ago, the home is now listed as a lender-approved short sale at $479,000. Foreclosure proceedings were filed on December 1st.

The Solar Park subdivision is on the south side of Glenview Road and is bordered on the east and south by the Harms Woods forest preserve. Solar Park, a creation of architects Keck & Keck, dates to the early 1940s.

A 4-bedroom, 4-bath, 3,360 square foot Keck & Keck home at 803 Solar Ln in Solar Park just came on the market yesterday, priced at $599,000. The home is said to retain many of its original mid-century modern details.

A recently-adopted Glenview ordinance / tax levy places 803 Solar Ln in a Special Services Area for storm sewer improvements.

Didn’t we talk about this before? Something to the effect of “are we sure that this is K&K”? I’d say it isn’t – the feel is wrong, despite the remodeling (or remuddeling) it just doesn’t “feel” like K&K worked here.

Me again – ohmigod, that poor house at 803 – it needs some help (at least the kitchen, surprisingly, looks original).
