A quick tour of Evanston’s new E2 Apartments

The 356-unit E2 apartment towers in downtown Evanston will welcome their first residents early next month.

E2 is the largest apartment complex in Evanston, and it’s the only new one slated to open this year. E2 has the most extensive suite of amenities in Evanston, and is one of only two buildings in Evanston to offer 24/7 door staff.

I visited E2 last Friday for a quick tour of the common area amenities and the three furnished model apartments designed by Evanston-based Morgante Wilson Architects.

E2’s common amenities are on a fourth-floor deck between the two towers. The amenities suite centers on a spacious resident lounge that has multiple seating areas, a bar, a gas fireplace, flat-screen TVs and a billiards table.

The demonstration kitchen opens from the lounge and is in a large event space that was awaiting furniture. There’s a dining room that can double as a conference room adjacent to the demonstration kitchen.

E2’s fitness facilities include a room with strength training and cardio equipment, and a nearly full-length basketball court that can serve as a volleyball court and a yoga / Pilates studio.

There’s a business center with Mac and PC computers, a theater / media room, bicycle storage and more. The outdoor deck, which was covered in snow at the time of my visit, has a pool, landscaped terraces, seating areas and gas grills.

The leasing office for E2‘s studio to 3-bedroom apartments and townhomes is open daily in the east lobby at 1890 Maple Ave.

Check back tomorrow for a look at the furnished models.
