You can see a drilling rig and caissons on the far end of the large site in the foreground in the above picture. Construction is apparently underway on 545 N McClurg Ct, a 44-story, 490-unit apartment tower, office space and ground-level retail.
Construction has also begun on the conversion of the River East Art Center building, 445 E Illinois, into 285 loft apartments.
At the east end of the park Related Midwest is proposing a new residential tower, and a site directly across from that tower has the potential for more than 340,000 square feet of residential or office development. That tower would be immediately west of Related’s recently-completed 500 Lake Shore Drive apartments.
