Affordable housing for Humboldt Park

Affordable housing developer Bickerdike Redevelopment Corp. plans a $17 million mixed-use project that will fill 11 lots along Division between California and Spaulding. The city controls eight vacant lots slated for the project and will sell them to the nonprofit builder for $1 each. Bickerdike already owns two of the lots and is acquiring a third from the owner.

The development, called “la Estancia,” will comprise three four-story buildings with a total of 57 affordable apartments and 12,585 square feet of commercial space. The units will have one to four bedrooms and rent from about $455 to $605 a month.
