With 848 apartments spread over two towers, Fifield‘s apartment complex at 555 W Kinzie St in the Fulton River District is now the biggest apartment building in the country to have earned LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.
Green practices implemented at Alta include recycled building materials, a green roof, maximized natural light in each unit, and “an advanced standard for the indoor air quality,” says a press release from Fifield.
Alta’s apartments have floor-to-ceiling windows, kitchens with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, ceramic tile baths, in-unit laundry, and individually controlled heating and air conditioning. Floor plans range from studios to two-bedrooms with 508 to 1,807 square feet, with rents starting at $1,455 per month.
The complex’s west tower is more than 70 percent leased. The east tower is 50 percent leased.
