An updated look at nine new Near North Side apartment projects

by Joe Zekas on 8/19/14

Yesterday we stopped by nine of the new apartment projects that are in various stages of completion on Chicago’s Near North Side. The nine projects include a total of nearly 2,000 apartments. Three additional Near North Side projects, with a total of 1,140 units, are on the Plan Commission agenda for this Thursday, and neighborhood projects in the pipeline could add several thousand more apartments.

The 510-unit apartment tower at Wolf Point, above, is just beginning to rise out of the ground. Completion is expected toward the latter part of next year.

Jones Chicago, 220 W Illinois, is topped out, mostly closed-in and is targeting a fall 2014 opening for its 188 apartments. Floor plans are online (without room dimensions), but pricing has not been made available yet.

The site has been cleared for an 11-story mixed-use building with 51 apartments at 707 N Wells.

The 295-unit tower at 805 N LaSalle and the 367-unit building at 845 N State are both slated for 2015 occupancy.

The 6-story, 23-unit building at 858 N Franklin is nearly ready for occupancy.

The 106-unit apartment complex at 459 W Division has caisson drilling rigs onsite. The project is part of the Parkside of Old Town development.

The tower crane was recently completed for the 240-unit apartment tower under construction at 625 W Division.

The New City development at Halsted and Clybourn will include a 196-unit apartment tower and several hundred thousand square feet of retail and office space.
