An updated look at The Maxwell in not-the-South Loop

by Joe Zekas on 6/5/13

Its website will inform you that “The Maxwell is located at an intersection in the epicenter of the South Loop.” The statement would be accurate if the epicenter of the South Loop was across the river from the South Loop, but of course it isn’t.

Construction was underway on the 231,000 square feet of retail space planned for The Maxwell when I stopped by on Monday. Occupancy is slated for September, 2014, and Dick’s Sporting Goods and Nordstrom Rack have reportedly signed on as tenants.

When The Maxwell opens, will it be more fully leased than the Shops at Roosevelt Collection? Will the South Loop’s boundaries expand to encompass its location?
