Another Potter Palmer mansion hits the market

by Joe Zekas on 3/9/12

Just over a year ago we noted that a duplex unit in a Potter Palmer mansion at 33 E Division St was available for rent or purchase.

We refer to “a Potter Palmer mansion” to distinguish it from the famed Potter Palmer mansion (pictured), which stood on the site now occupied by two brick high-rises at 1350 – 1360 N Lake Shore Dr.

The recently-listed home at 74 E Elm St is described as an “1888 Potter Palmer Mansion,” doubtless to distinguish it from the defunct one.

The 1888 Palmer has been renovated, and the original millwork restored and re-installed. The home has 4 bedrooms, 5 full and 2 half baths. Its 20 x 128 Gold Coast site includes a 2-car garage.

Prudential Rubloff’s Sharon Sweeney has the listing, which is priced at $3,975,000.
