Construction is underway on a 469-unit apartment tower at 1000 S Clark St, just north of the Target on Roosevelt Rd. JDL is the developer and Hartshorne Plunkard the architecture firm for the project.
Until recently Clark Street between Polk St (800 S) and Roosevelt Rd (1200 S) had a rather forlorn appearance, with AMLI 900 flanked by two large vacant lots facing the unbroken fence bordering Dearborn Park.
AMLI Lofts, 850 S Clark, is nearing completion on the vacant lot to the north of AMLI 900. It’s immediately south of Burnham Pointe, 730 S Clark.
By the end of next year apartment renters will be able to choose among the four major projects ranged along Clark St and the Lofts at Roosevelt Collection, just west of the Target.
This isn’t the most attractive or convenient part of the South Loop, so it’s going to be interesting to see what happens when there are nearly 2,000 apartments in the area.
