Are new South Loop apartments a sign of a rental market downturn?

Crain’s Chicago Real Estate Daily recently reported that a warehouse at 619-633 S LaSalle has been acquired for conversion to 80 to 90 apartments. Although Crain’s locates the project in Printers Row, it’s a block away.

Join me for a video look at the site and its neighbors while I wonder whether apartments in a tertiary location like this mark the beginning of a rental market downturn.
