At Aqua, the architecture sold

by Joe Zekas on 7/19/09

The Aqua Celebration Event, which I attended yesterday, drew 100s of affable, enthusiastic home buyers. Buyer’s remorse is a real phenomenon, but there was no sign of it at this upbeat party, despite the fact that the market has changed radically from three years ago when many of the buyers inked their contracts.

There was also little evidence of the “analysis paralysis” that’s afflicting many home buyers today. You’ll see from the video above just how much I enjoyed this interview. And you’ll also see how powerful a draw Jeanne Gang’s vision was for many of the buyers at Aqua.

You can see more Aqua scenes and buyer interviews at our Aqua at Lakeshore East playlist at YouTube.

Here’s a question I have yet to answer:
If I was looking to buy a new-construction property and I came upon a street (if looking at houses) or area (if looking at mid or highrise condos) where there was an aesthetically attractive structure and one that was most certainly not – assuming the construction otherwise was of comparable quality – would I rather purchase the attractive one and have to look at the ugly one everyday or vice-versa?

A fun video and I generally am also very impressed with Aqua. It’s my favorite new construction highrise of the past decade.

Of note, the guy in the video has one of the thickest Chicago accents I’ve ever heard
