City spurring development in Pullman

The Chicago Department of Planning and Development has issued a request for proposals for 27 lots between 104th and 106th on South Corliss and South Maryland avenues, in Pullman. The city already owns seven of the lots, which it is offering for $105,000 each, and 17 of the parcels are currently zoned for attached housing development.

The city is trying to spur development in the historic South Side neighborhood. Redevelopment projects for existing buildings on these historic blocks of Corliss and Maryland would face certain restrictions, but developers also would receive the attendant tax breaks for landmark status.
