Condo conversion face-off: 927 W Eastwood versus 928 W Eastwood

927 W Eastwood 928 W Eastwood

Since we like smackdowns here at YoChicago, we thought we’d pit two condo conversions against each other. Eastwood Commons, at 927 W Eastwood, and 928 W Eastwood are right across the street from each other in Uptown.

It’s a close call on several fronts. Besides their location, on a cul-de-sac just a few blocks from the lake, the projects have a lot in common. They’re both three-story buildings (plus a garden level) with eight units. Their condos both have two or three bedrooms, and “great room” layouts with breakfast bars separating living rooms and kitchens. Both have hardwood floors and exposed brick walls. Both are marketed by Coldwell Banker.

Starting prices are roughly similar, too, from the $260s at Eastwood Commons and from the $250s at 928 W Eastwood (although a gander at a couple of online listings for third floor units at each project shows some disparity: at Eastwood Commons, you get three bedrooms and two baths for $315,000. At 928 W Eastwood, you get two bedrooms and two baths for $344,000).

In Eastwood Commons’ corner: Juliet balconies. In 928 W Eastwood’s corner: gas fireplaces in the living rooms.
