Construction begins at ChicagoView II

ChicagoView II

Construction has begun on ChicagoView II, a large condo development at the corner of Chicago Avenue and Noble Street in Noble Square. Construction started at least a week ago, and the western part of the development is already taking form.

The artist rendering from the banner shows the design, which features large brick balconies on the exterior. The most curious aspect of the rendering is the inclusion of large balconies above the fourth floor residences. It’s hard to tell from the angle of the rendering, but those look like little more than glorified awnings, as they’re located above the actual units.

We haven’t been able to glean any info about the units or price points in ChicagoView II, but you’ll have them as soon as we do. Second City Realty is handling sales, and the sales center is located across the street at 1363 W Chicago Ave.

Hmm…the developer might need to think about buying up that billboard space until sales are finished.

maybe they should think about redesigning the facade…looks like some weird cracked out tetris thing..

The developer, architect and plan reviewer at City Hall all should be barred from practice.

I’m ghastly afraid that this building will look worse than the rendering, if that’s even possible.

Seriously, I usually give a bit of leeway to modern design, but this is god-awful. When they can’t even make the rendering look halfway decent, I fear for the finished product.

And Randy’s right — Tetris is really the only modern precedent that comes to mind. Not exactly a stellar lineage.

But you’re close to Rothschild Liquors…

The ones in the ‘Featured Homes’ section above on the right are of the same lineage.

It kind of reminds me of that horrible looking high rise you see from 290 when heading towards Schaumburg

Stokes 4/16/08 at 10:24 AM

But in the 70’s that was cool and modern. In the 2000’s, not so much.

Agreed. 15 years from now, we will think of this building the way we think of those mass-produced 1960s cinder-block apartment buildings. I suspect they’ll eventually paint it all one color to slightly reduce the eyesore effect.

I think it’s funny the ‘rendering’ shown above shows chainlink fence in it. I take it you guys didn’t find one so you snapped up the one on site. You should’ve at least duct-taped the holes together!

BTW Second City Realty has now merged with condo super-marketer C-21 Sussex & REilly.
