Construction checkup: 2800 West North

by Mark Boyer on 3/3/09

Condo development at 2800 W North Ave in Logan Square, Chicago

Workers were on site this morning at this shoe box-shaped development at the corner of North and California avenues in Logan Square. The windows are in, and most of the insulation has been covered up with gray siding that gives it a much sleeker look than most of the surrounding buildings.

On the west side of the building’s North Avenue face, workers have started installing balcony railings, which offer a glimpse of what the finished building will look like.

When I spoke with North Clybourn Group agent Karen Biazar in mid-January, she said she planned to open furnished models within 60 days, so those should be ready before long. According to Biazar, the 16 1,200 to 1,400 square-foot two-bedroom / two-bath condos will be priced from the $310s to the $400s.

What’s with all these new buildings going up and the dark windows? Do you have any shots of an interior, not necessarily this building? I just imagine living inside and it being a permanent gloomy day. I’m sure they are good for heat gain though?
