Construction checkup: EnV

One new development that wouldn’t rank high in a Web presence watch is EnV, the new 28-story, 249-unit apartment tower going up next to the Merchandise Mart in River North. A word to the wise: basic info like floor plans, features, and location always trump a Flash slideshow of stock “lifestyle” images and the option of changing a site’s background color. Heck, at least show your visitors up front what the building will look like.

EnV, 161 W Kinzie St, ChicagoIn other words, there’s a lot we still don’t know about EnV, outside of what we’ve read from other news sources: It’s located at 161 W Kinzie St, it’s developer is The Lynd Company, it was designed by Valerio Dewalt Train Associates (architects of record for 1401 South State in the South Loop and the Oakwood Apartments tower at 77 W Huron St in River North, and owners of the charming URL BuildOrDie.com), and it’s supposed to earn LEED certification following its completion.

Until we hear back from Lynd regarding EnV’s construction timetable and pricing schedule, all we can do is keep an eye on the construction site and bring back pics the the ones above.

Ann,

I think people would prefer to have a clearer idea of what they’d be inquiring about before giving up their e-mail address.

Any objection to supplying rent ranges, unit types, availabilities, etc. in a comment or contacting our reporters with that info?

She already has — we’ll have a post about it later today.
