Let’s hope the crew at Wabansia Row II, 2330 – 2334 W Wabansia Ave in Bucktown, gives these buildings a good scrubbing before its first open house. Another cold winter — Wabansia Row II’s third, by my count — really did a number on the brick. (Check out the “related post” below to see how the site looked just three months ago.)
Nevertheless, a lot of work has progressed at these townhomes since last fall. Most of the windows are in, and the ornamental copper still has its shine. Lisa Madonia of @properties has listed two of the four-bedroom / 4.5-bath homes so far: a 4,655 square-foot unit priced at $1.05 million, and a 3,100 unit priced in the $790s.

How do brick buildings get these white stains? I read somewhere that it was due to moisture getting into the brick and once it dried out the salt is left behind. How can these stains be removed once they are in the brick?
Google effervescence and brick…
Finally that eyesore will be gone…My brother lives across the street, and there used to be just rats and vagrants chillin in the half built shell that was there for 3 years.
@ Jeff: …efflorescence?
