Construction underway on new South Loop apartment tower

Crain’s Chicago Real Estate Daily reported yesterday that Golub & Co had begun construction on its new 397-unit, 41-story apartment tower at 1001 S State in the South Loop.

I was in the area and stopped by for an updated look at the site. Construction is still in the preliminary phase of clearing the site and prepping it for foundation work.

According to Crain’s, first occupancies will occur in 2016.

We’re currently estimating that nearly 6,000 new apartments will open in downtown Chicago in 2016. You can see all of the new downtown Chicago apartment projects on our at-a-glance list.
