Crain's: Berkshire Hathaway unit buys KSGMAC

by Joseph Askins on 9/1/09

This one may be more interesting for the names involved than for the impact it’ll have on local real estate, but Crain’s and several other outlets report that HomeServices of America, an affiliate of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, has purchased Koenig & Strey GMAC Real Estate from Brookfield Residential Property Services for an undisclosed sum.

The 48-year-old Koenig & Strey has 900 agents and 21 offices in the Chicago area and saw a sales volume of $2.6 billion in 2008, Crain’s reports.
