Crane coming down, paint going on at K2 at K Station

The dismantling of the tower crane is one of the major milestones in the construction of a high-rise building. It’s a sign that the heavy-lifting is over and construction is entering its final phases: a focus on the interiors.

As you can see from the above photo, which was shot in yesterday’s rain, the window installation at K2 at K Station is nearing completion and a substantial portion of the concrete has been painted white to match the precast concrete at the building’s base.

At a recent topping-off party for K2, developer Steven Fifield announced that the 496-unit 34-story tower is scheduled for April 1st occupancy.

You can monitor the progress of the tower crane’s assembly in the following video.

The crane’s disassembly will continue throughout the week if you’d like to find a suitable Fulton River District vantage point to monitor that. I’d recommend the parking lot of the Jewel, immediately east of the building.
