Dennis Rodkin goes to heaven

by Joe Zekas on 8/9/13

Chicago Magazine’s Dennis Rodkin didn’t have to die to get to a place he deems to die for, the 6-level 19th floor penthouse at 6 N Michigan in the Loop.

Read the details – except, curiously, for the address – in Rodkin’s Deal Estate column, and watch him wax rhapsodic in the above video.

YoChicago’s Joe Askins visited the penthouse, which is currently listed for $4.75M, four years ago and shot the above panorama.

After watching Rodkin’s video I revisited some of our aerial images of the Millennium Park neighborhood and spotted another bit of heaven – atop the roof of 400 East Randolph. Does anyone know the story behind this very special retreat?

I think it was a restaurant back in the 1960s.
