Dominicks

Construction continues on the 50,000-square-foot Dominick’s slated to dominate the 2000 block of West Chicago Avenue in West Town by summer 2007. The West Town Chamber of Commerce Web site has more information about the grocery store’s development, but what do you think it means for the neighborhood?

All in all, a good thing. It replaces the old Ed Mar grocery store with something better.

My guess is, though, that all of the smaller polish and mexican grocery stores will go out of business.

Check out the eulogy to Edmar Foods that April wrote back in June in the Ukrainian Village journal. There’s a range of opinions on its demise in the comments, too.
