Dubin opens design center

Local developer Dubin Residential has grown significantly in recent years, with condo and townhouse projects stretching from the West Loop to Evanston. A new design center at the company’s Wellbourn Row development now will allow home buyers from various Dubin communities to select finishes at one centralized location.
The new center, at 2933 N. Clybourn, is a retail-style studio run by Dubin’s home finishes manager, Erik Carlson, who helps buyers select appliances and color schemes, offering advice about how to increase homes’ resale value along the way. Buyers can choose things like flooring, countertops, appliances and fixtures for homes at Dubin projects such as Wellbourn Row and Kilbourn Court, on the Northwest Side.

“For buyers on a budget, I can offer interior design advice and share ideas to give the home the feeling a resident is trying to achieve without spending a lot of money,” Carlson said. “There are a lot of ways to be creative, such as adding marble to a bath in smaller amounts, which saves money but still lets the home exude the look the buyer desires.”

Mid-sized builders like Dubin Residential don’t usually have design centers, according to Mike Kelahan, director of sales and marketing for the company, but for Dubin, customer demand drove the decision to open one.

“Today’s homebuyers want to personalize their homes, whether they are spending $200,000 or $2 million,” Kelahan said. “Plus, no matter the size of the budget, we can help buyers create the home they’ve always imagined with our wide range of selections.”
