First look at 2500 South Halsted's model

2500 South Halsted, 2500 S Halsted St, Bridgeport, Chicago

On Friday, Koenig & Strey GMAC Real Estate agent Jason Stratton invited me to have a first look at 2500 South Halsted, an eight-unit building at the corner of Archer and Halsted in Bridgeport that was designed and developed by Ron Vari of Vari Architects.

Like the other Vari-designed building that I recently profiled at 1217 W Augusta Blvd, 2500 South Halsted is very modern and has a lot of curved walls and unique architectural features. All of the two-bedroom floor plans have 1,667 square feet of floor space and prices range from the $350s to the $400s.

Next week I’ll post some video footage of my visit to 2500 South Halsted.

The bathroom & kitchen faucets are installed improperly. The lever should be to the side, it looks like it’s in front. You really don’t want to get your hand drenched, or burned, when you turn the water on or off.

This place is disgusting. It has been under construction for probably 4 years at this point. I walk past it every day. Besides that, it is in the worst location ever. On Halsted and Archer (busy intersection) and right under interstate 55 by the 94 interchange. Plus its by the L and the railroad and smelly river. It reeks of pollution 24 hours a day, but especially during rush hour. I can’t wait to step out onto one of my balconies and huff exhaust.

They are insane if they think they are going to fetch more than 150k for these units. The landscaping is hilarious and it is laughable to say that it is “modern”. No one built residences here for 150 years for a reason.
