A great way to check out a neighborhood is to visit the street fairs and festivals that take place there. You’ll meet some of the local businesses, feel the community’s vibe and have a chance to learn about the area from residents.
This Saturday, September 6, the Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance is sponsoring its annual Festival on Prairie Avenue. The South Loop event runs from noon to 6 along Prairie Ave just south of 18th Street.
Head a few short blocks south and a block east and you’ll be looking at The LEX, a striking new tower with traditional and loft-style apartments at 2138 S Indiana Ave.
The LEX is a full-amenity building featuring a spacious landscaped pool deck with a whirlpool, gas grills and a dog run. Adjacent to the pool deck there’s a fitness room, a resident lounge and game room, and a business center.
The LEX’s convenient location, across from McCormick Place, is at the center of several major new developments: two large new hotels, the new DePaul basketball arena, the Motor Row entertainment district, and the new CTA Green Line station on Cermak Rd.
One-bedrooms at The LEX rent from the low $1,800s and two-bedrooms from the low $2,300s.
The LEX’s leasing center is closed on Saturdays, but open Sunday from 10 to 5, Monday through Thursday from 9 to 6, and Friday from 9 until 4 pm.
