From the vault – anticipating the Olympic Village

Five years ago Chicagoans were debating whether the city would or should host the 2016 Olympics. YoChicago was noting that the city’s “claim to the 2016 Summer Olympics is anything but a lock” and passing along news reports of local developers’ keen interest in building the Olympic Village south of McCormick Place.

A part of the proposed Olympic Village would have been built on the site formerly occupied by Michael Reese Hospital. That site was almost entirely vacant when we flew by it last September, and there’s ongoing debate over its redevelopment.
