The Chicago home of the international molecular gastronomy movement, Alinea restaurant (1723 N. Halsted St., 312-867-0110) in Lincoln Park, celebrates its one-year anniversary this month with a $175 menu featuring items such as PB&J, Kobe Beef, Bison, Bacon, Sponge Cake, Squab, Snap Peas, Hot Potato and Heart of Palm (and 13 others).
The creation of chef Grant Achatz, Alinea is a serious, quiet dining establishment sprinkled with whimsy and the avant garde. If you’ve got the dough, don’t think twice.
And by the way, Alinea rhymes with Ravinia.
