Construction begins on 2 South Loop high-rises

Site of Lexington Park Burnham Pointe

Aqua isn’t the only tower to break ground recently. In a drive through the South Loop yesterday, we saw that work has also begun at Lexington Park (left) and Burnham Pointe. As far as we know, no Al Capone treasures were unearthed at Lexington, and none of Burnham Pointe’s protestors chained themselves to bulldozers in a last-ditch effort to halt construction of the building they say will obstruct their views.

The 35-story Lexington Park — located at Indiana Avenue and the South Loop‘s southern border, Cermak Road — was seen as a neighborhood high-rise pioneer for a few good months there, until it was announced that Rokas International would be building a 27-story high-rise called 2100 directly north of the site.

Prices at Lexington Park start in the $230s, and condos at Burnham Pointe range from the $200s to the $690s.
