Kingsbury Plaza rental tower nearing completion

Kingsbury Plaza

The Habitat Company’s sleek rental high-rise, Kingsbury Plaza, is nearly complete.

The facade is close to finished, as are the fitness and party rooms, according to Monika Ilic, an administrative assistant with Habitat.

Workers are finishing the outdoor pool, cyber cafe and landscaping, she says.

About 50 tenants have moved into the building, at 520 N Kingsbury St, according to Ilic. Solomon Cordwell Buenz designed the modern tower, whose curving glass facade will join projects like Lucien Lagrange’s progressive Erie on the Park and Kingsbury on the Park in a corner of River North that has seen a flood of residential developments – some much better than others.

Ilic says that 218 of the 420 apartments are available, and rents range from $1,400 to $3,200 a month. The units’ features make us wonder if this building will be converting to condominiums down the road – private balconies, granite countertops, GE stainless steel appliances, maple cabinets, full-sized washers and dryers in units, Kohler fixtures…

Construction is expected to wrap up in November.
