Is the crisis in the Ukraine improving Realtor spelling?

by Joe Zekas on 4/24/14

Ukrainian Village is probably the most commonly misspelled neighborhood name in Chicago. Is that changing as a result of the saturation coverage of recent events in the Ukraine?

A search at Redfin turns up 12 listings that reference Ukrainian Village and spell it correctly. Six listings refer to Ukranian Village. That’s a 1/3 overall error rate.

Six of the 18 listings are new within the past 30 days – and 3 of them are for Ukranian Village, a 50% error rate.

If you’re searching for Ukrainian Village apartments at Craigslist you’ll miss 120 ads placed within the last week if you only spell the neighborhood properly.
