K2 luxury apartments joins the Craigslist Apartment Cleanup

The Craigslist Apartment Cleanup is an ongoing effort to make Craigslist, Trulia, Zillow and other websites useful for renters by suppressing illegal rental service ads on those sites. The sheer volume of those often fraudulent and bait-and-switch ads has a simple goal: to frustrate, confuse and mislead renters into contacting Chicago’s predatory rental services a/k/a apartment locators a/k/a apartment finders.

We haven’t written much recently about our cleanup campaign, but we’ve been diligently pursuing it in the background. We continue to document illegal advertising with a goal of presenting that information to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, which has the authority to levy substantial fines against offenders and suspend or revoke their licenses.

The latest supporter of the Craigslist Apartment Cleanup is also Chicago’s newest downtown luxury apartment tower: the 496-unit, 34-story K2, at 365 N Halsted St in the Fulton River District. K2 was recently profiled in the following CBS 2 video segment.

Major landlords have supported our campaign both publicly and as silent supporters.

All of the supporters of the Craigslist Apartment Cleanup are reputable, professionally managed organizations and properties. Their support makes your apartment search faster, easier and more fruitful. We urge you to put their properties on your “must-see” list when you’re looking for your next home. We can’t guarantee you that they’ll always satisfy every resident, but we feel comfortable in assuring you that they’ll make a genuine effort to do so.
