Keeping up on Trump Tower

by Joel on 7/24/07

Trump Tower Thousands of eyes are laid on Chicago’s biggest construction project both day and night, but here’s a look at the progress of Trump Tower for all those who don’t happen by the high-profile site on a regular basis. Workers are about six floors into the second of three setbacks on the tower, now more than 35 stories off the ground. Unlike some high-rises underway, Trump is getting its glass as quickly as the concrete is poured. Good thing, too, since the hotel portion in the lowest segment of the 92-story tower is scheduled to open in December. New sales director Leah Harriett, with exclusive marketing agent Koenig & Strey GMAC Real Estate, reports that the development is 80 percent sold. Remaining condos are priced from the $580s to $9.6 million.

It’s hard to believe that people will rent a room in a tower that is still under construction. A general rule of thumb is that people don’t like to stay at a hotel NEAR a construction site. I couldn’t imagine staying at a hotel that IS the construction site.

Mr. Trump, please tell us how many units you have sold this year. Didn’t sales fall like a rock compared to 2006?
