Landmark status ahead for Logan Boulevards

The Chicago Commission on Chicago Landmarks has granted preliminary landmark status to the Logan Square Boulevard District, which includes wide leafy spans of Logan, Humboldt, Palmer and Kedzie boulevards.

The historic greystones and other stately buildings that line these streets would be protected from demolition if the full City Council approves the designation. The idea of a ring of park-like boulevards that would circle the city was conceived in 1849 by developer John S. Wright and legislated into being in 1869.
