No starving, suffering at River East Art Center lofts

The Lofts at River East Art Center

“Just ‘cuz I like art doesn’t mean I want to live like a starving artist,” reads an advertisement introducing MCL Companies’ latest project, The Lofts at River East Art Center. “I don’t suffer for my art, but I’m glad others did.” The development, a partial conversion of the existing arts center with new construction added to the top, will have 280 lofts we’re sure the sadistic, well-fed quasi-artist will appreciate. North-facing units will overlook the new two-acre park that MCL is constructing adjacent to its 47-story high-rise, ParkView. The developer has started a V.I.P. list, and the sales center, located on-site at 445 E Illinois St, will open in the spring. Prices on the one- to three-bedroom lofts start in the $400s.
