Logan Square getting greener

Logan Square has been seeing red over its lack of green. Back in 1997, the Near Northwest Side neighborhood was declared to have the least amount of green space in the city. A non-profit group is trying to remedy the problem by turning a half-acre lot on the 2700 block of West Fullerton into an extension of Haas Park.

The site, which holds an old warehouse, sits across the street from the park, which has been called one of the city’s most crowded. The San Francisco-based Trust for Public Land has purchased the lot and hopes to turn it over to the Chicago Park District by 2006.
