Lunchtime music in Daley Plaza

I played music in Daley Plaza yesterday for their daily summertime concert series. We blasted out Irish jigs and reels, and rollicking songs with such lyrics as “My friend John was tall and thin and he had a leg for every limb” while free spirits danced, and buttoned-down office workers glanced up now and then from their lunches.

To the right, from where I sat, was the rock solid City Hall/County Building. Straight ahead was a building that had two signs on it with equal billing–one for a Methodist Church, the other for a bank. To the left of that was the county building that had the terrible fire. And to the left of that was a construction zone in Block 37.

The Picasso statute stood pouting, with its back to us, apparently not a friend of Irish music.
