MLS-listed North Shore rentals are scarce

by Joe Zekas on 3/17/14

If you thought there was a shortage of homes for sale on Chicago’s North Shore, take a look at how the rental market has shrunk over the past two years.

At this time two years ago there were 45 homes and condos listed for rent in the MLS in Lake Forest ZIP Code 60045. Glencoe (60022) had 12 for-rent listings. Wilmette (60091) had 20 and Winnetka (60093) 22.

As of yesterday afternoon Lake Forest had 14 available rentals, Glencoe had only 3 and Wilmette and Winnetka each had 8.

Anne West at North Shore Views has suggestions for buyers on how to cope with the for-sale inventory shortage that are equally applicable to renters.
