North Center is one of the most livable neighborhoods on the North Side as far as we’re concerned, but then again, so is Northcenter. We only recently discovered the smashed-together version of this neighborhood name on the Northcenter Chamber of Commerce Web site. We’ve always spelled it as two words and most references we’ve seen have had it that way too.
Does the name matter? Would not Ribfest, which the chamber does a tremendous job on each summer, taste as tangy were it Rib Fest? On the other hand, if we accept “Northcenter,” how long until people are moving to Humboldtpark or Westbucktown or Universityvillage or EastUkrainianvillage? Gets a little unwieldy, no?
