Mixed-use high-rise, loft conversion planned for South Loop

Near South high-rise

This week, The Chicago Tribune reported on developer Andrius Augunas’ plans to build a 27-story high-rise with 178 condos at South Indiana Ave and 21st Street in the South Loop. The $95 million project also calls for the rehab of an existing four-story building on the site into 39 one- and two-bedroom timber lofts and 12,000 square feet of retail space. The tower also will have 4,000 square feet of retail space, according to the Tribune. The project, which is still awaiting City Council approval, will be just a block over from the new Prairie 21 and not far from Augunas’ Motor Row Condominiums at 2300 S Michigan Ave. More views of the FitzGerald Associates-designed high-rise can be found under the working title “Development One” in the “Our Projects” section at Augunas’ Rokas International Web site.
