New West names Gould partner

New West Realty, one of the Near West Side’s most active real estate brokerage and development firms, has named Peter K. Gould a partner.

In his new role, Gould plans to expand and restructure the retail brokerage division of the company, hiring additional agents and growing beyond the Near West Side.

“I would like New West Realty to have a greater presence outside of the Near West Side,” Gould said. “We’re going to actively take steps to make New West Realty a more recognized name throughout the city, and possibly even the suburbs.”

Gould also plans to redesign the company’s Web site and to renovate the Realtors’ office space.

As an attorney, Gould has specialized in real estate transactions since 1960 and as an investor on the Near West Side, he bought his first building in the area in 1969.

“I’ve had a faith and belief in the Near West Side that is spurring my effort with New West Realty,” Gould said.

Gould will be taking over many of the duties of company co-founder Ted Mazola, leaving Mazola to focus on the company’s booming development and on-site marketing divisions, which currently are selling VB1224 Lofts, at 1224 W. Van Buren; University Station Lofts, at 1550 S. Blue Island; and Lakeside Tower, at 16th and Indiana, in Central Station.
