Office Depot eyes State Street site

The former Toys ‘R’ Us store that has been a glaring gap on State Street for the last two years is slated for a new Office Depot, according to reports in Crain’s Chicago Business.

The Florida-based chain reportedly wants to lease around 20,000 square feet in the 60,000-square-foot space at 10 S. State. JDI Realty owns the property and has hired Northern Realty Group to lease the space. Along with plans for Block 37 and other new mixed-use developments to the south, filling the vacant store is a key part of reviving one of downtown Chicago’s definitive streets.
