One of these things is not like the others

2903 S Union Ave, Chicago

“Luxury in Chicago means anything over $3,000 a month,” says CNBC. With that in mind, I spent part of my afternoon searching for homes listed right at that $3,000 threshold. Amidst dozens of listings accompanied by high-rise photographs, this little guy at 2903 S Union Ave in Bridgeport certainly stood out.

“Little guy” isn’t even that accurate: it has 3,600 square feet, three bedrooms, and 2.5 baths spread out over two above-ground floors and a basement, plus a two-car garage off-alley, but c’mon, don’t tell me the home doesn’t look kinda lost.

The home features a recently updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, polished marble tile throughout the first floor, oak staircases leading to the basement and second floor, a second kitchen in the basement, private balconies off two bedrooms, and a natural gas hook-up for a grill in the back yard.

Too old school to join the “renting rich”? Just buy it outright for $499,000, $50,000 below its 2006 sale price.
