Phrases we hate – Active Adult

When you turn 55 you join the ranks of what real estate marketers are calling “Active Adults.” Until then you are, presumably, an Inactive Adult.

The actual demographics of many an AA community are indistinguishable from many a nursing home’s.

How many 55-year-olds, after all, are likely to respond to the silliness that typifies much of the copy you find in AA ads and news releases? For starters: “If you’re 55 going on 35, have we got a place for you!”

They’re practical in these AA communities, however, at least in Oswego – the community calendar‘s first offering is a class in tornado safety.

If an AA in Waukegan is more to your taste:

… you’ll enjoy various community activities, from a field trip at your favorite museum, to a day at the ballpark. Enjoy a lifestyle brimming with vitality and excitement and the conveniences of not having to leave anything behind.

If that’s not enough, you can go to an AA meeting in Olympia Fields:

How about lush green lawns and beautiful ponds for you to enjoy daily but never have to tend to, unless, of course, you’d like to. Or unique activities that inspires your mind and focus on wellness and health. Yet among all of the lifestyle upgrades, you fell secure knowing that your favorite shopkeepers are just blocks away and your p lace of worship is still close by.
