Piece by piece, Trump gets its spire

Slowly but surely, the fiberglass spire atop the Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago is filling out. Tribune columnist Blair Kamin shared this photo from Butler Adams on his Skyline blog this morning. No word on when the spire’s final tier will be finished, but we’ll bring you a shot of it as soon as it is.

just curious, i really like this building in its finished state, does anyone agree with me that the spire atop here wasn’t really needed and kind of somewhat looks a bit out of proportion?? any thoughts?

I like the idea of a spire. I do however, think that it may be 75 feet too short and not large enough (diameter). Let’s see how it looks finished and lit though…

I thought they were done and were keeping the radio tower look. Glad to see they are actually going to cover the rest of it up, it should look much better! This building looks great at sunset and twilight, but kinda bad the rest of the time. IMO of course :)
